Vasilios Kotronias GM from Greece has written a book titled 'Beating the flank openings'.
This guy is almost the father of beating books. He has written 'Beating the Caro-kann' and Beating the Petroff . Very good books.

First he has 15 pages : The ideas behind the catalan.-Very instructive what ever side of the catalan you play.

Then the next chapter is titled :' Beating the catalan opening'.

What do 1...d5 players here prefer to play against the Catalan when you need to win with black?
Normally I play QGD/noteboom/dutch stonewall, so for now I answer the Catalan fianchetto with f7-f5.

I would like to learn some other active system to "diversify" my anti-Catalan repertoire. It seems that  the d5xc4 on move 3 or 4 should be the obvious choice, since most of the top grandmasters play this way nowdays. However, since I have very limited experience with the Catalan as white, and not very many "pure" Catalans with black (mostly stonewalls) I would like to get recommendations for an active system for black.

Also, white players, what system do you dislike the most to face when playing the Catalan?

Well, in the Open Catalan, 5...a6 and 5...Nc6 (which are interrelated) are widely considered to be Black's most dynamic tries.  You could look at 5...b5 but to me, it seems dicey.
