It seems that 6....a6 is OK; that 7.f5 is not the most critical reply; that 6....Bg4 is possibly better than 6..a6.

@NMB: I agree with youre recommendation that black must not castle too soon.
I am not so sure about 7.f5 being the best move:
Both 7....Na5 and 7....b5 8.Bb3,Na5 seem good answers to me.
Black simly waits till its clear where white wants to castle.
Also note that after b5/Na5 black can initiate his own pawnstorm if necessary.

Agreed. If Black simply develops, then White plays 7.Na4. After 6...a6 I like 7.f5 best. If Black is so unwise to castle himself, the pawn storm g2-g4-g5 (often as a sacrifice!) will follow.

Hi. I've studied that line, and i'm sure that it's absolutely not dangerous for white.

I suggest the natural setup e4 - f4 - Nc3 - Nf3 - Bc4 - d3. Then, if black doesn't play better moves
you'll take initiative with f5 - Qe2 and 0-0-0. 

In the main line, however, black plays e5 - Bc5 - d6 - Nc6 - Nf6 - Bg4,
so you have to play 7. Na4! changing his Bishop, and after short casling you'll have a good game.

White play is simple, i think 2...Bc5 is the best could happen after your 2. f4 Smiley

Hey guys quick question about the King's Gambit Declined.  I know that one of the main ways to decline the gambit after 1.e4 e5 2.f4 is Bc5.  I am a King's gambit fan as white and have fallen into repetitive trouble in that I cannot castle Kingside since the Bc5 attacks the g1 square (as 2.f4 leaves the line clear).  Does anyone have any advice as to how to avoid this problem?  I have heard it said that white should castle long, but that seems like a lot of trouble especially since when white castles kingside his king rooks zooms onto the offensive f1 square.  I also know there are lines where white plays a quick c3 hoping for d4.  But doesnt that block the knight which will be sitting passivly on b1? Any thought/comments on the best way to fight this variation of the KG Declined?  Please comment, I know the Declined lines are supposed to passive for black!!!
