2. Questions about the Scotch Gambit belong in the 1.e4 e5 section.
3. If you play a gambit your first worry should not be getting your pawn back. Your first worry is activating your pieces as soon as possible and/or a firm control of the centre. As Spielmann once wrote on sacrificial chess: only accept the return of material when it falls into your leap (or when there is nothing better).
4. 3.d4 exd4 4.Bc4 Bc5 5.c3 Nf6 (usually recommended) is a well known variation of the Italian: 3.Bc4 Bc5 4.c3 Nf6 5.d4 exd4.
5. 3.d4 exd4 4.Bc4 Bc5 5.c3 dxc3 is playable according to some theoreticians. Imo 6.Nxc3 (6.Bxf7+ is also possible) gives White a good version of the Danish/Göring Gambit: 3.d4 exd4 4.c3 dxc3 5.Nxc3 and Bc5 is usually considered a 3rd rate move.
