Is this project an attempt to compete with Chess Stars? I mean we already have those huge repertoire series "According to Anand", "According to Kramnik" etc. Now Quality releases their own mega series of "grandmaster repertoires", do we really need all these tomes to play decent chess after 1. e4 or 1. d4? Now can we expect Gambit, Everyman and Batsford roll out their own equivalents "Super-Duper repertoire based on 1. e4", "Ultimate Queens Pawn Mega Muscle Repertoire according to Batsford", ..... The whole gimmick is just a gigantic competition where the chess publishing houses are trying to out-glorify each other and make more money.

I'd be interested to see you raise this on the 1.d4 d5 forum.  The Catalan strikes me as one of White's best chances for an advantage...

For Marin's 1 c4 book, make sure he uses the right sources this time! For his 1...e5 books, He didn't use sources that help you write a repertoire book like Play 1 e4 e5!, The Chess Advantage in Black and White, Play the Open Gamas as Black, chesspublishing.com, etc. His 1...e5 books would have been a lot better if he did. Instead he used sources like Akiba Rubinstien: Uncrowned King which don't help you write a repertoire book!

I see no point in a 1.Nf3 book. The way top players play it, it is to transpose to 1.d4 or 1.c4.

There will be books for Black as well, but later on. First White.

I'm just imaging how will Aagaard attack the Ruy Lopez.

And I forgot to ask, will be also repertoire books for Black?

We have Marin's vs 1.e4, and what about 1.d4, 1.Nf3 and 1.c4???

Here I can suggest Vigorito  Cheesy as he recently finished his book on Semi-Slav.

Incidentally, John Watson took four volumes to cover the English for Batsford in the '70s, but those weren't repertoire books.

The starting position is 1.c4. The cover is an early version. We will be reshooting the chess boards for all the covers.

There will be no "jumping where the fence is lowest" as a Danish idiom goes.

But on 1.c4 Black can play following main lines:

1.... Nf6
1.... e6
1.... c5
1.... e5
1.... g6
1.... c6

The bit about covering transpositions would seem to suggest that the starting point is 1. c4.  I mean, how many other openings can 1. c4 e5 transpose to?  (Okay, the KID, Old Indian and Modern are possible.)  There's also the fact that Marin did a CD on 1. c4 e5 a few years ago ...

I wonder if the starting point in the book by Marin will be 1.c4 (as indicated in the headline) or 1.c4 e5 2.Nc3 (as the frontpage indicates!?)
