	Dembo briefly covers the following lines: 13.dxc5, Be6 (no games) 13.d5,f5 14.Bg5,Qd6 (Nielsen-Ivanchuk,Monaco,2006) 13.dxe5 , Bxe5 (no games) ------------------------------------------------- not covered by Dembo Re: 13.dxe5, Be6! was played in Navara-Kamsky, Sochi, 2008 This game was probably played after the publication of Dembo's book. Anyway 13..Be6! is better than Bxe5. Re: On 13.Bh6,cxd4 14.Bxg7,Kxg7 15.cxd4,exd4 Besides the games I mentioned in my previous post, also the game Cheparinov-Kamsky, Sochi, 2008 is relevant material 16.f4,f6 A) 17.e5,Bd7 (Topalov-Kamsky, 2009, match 1st game) B) 17.Rac1,Bg4! 18.Ng3,Bd7 (Cheparinov-Kamsky) Cheparinov was Topalov's second. The query above asks:
Is 12.Qd2 (iso 12.Rc1) in Dembo's book.
Actually 12.Qd2,e5 is in the book.
But coverage is now obsolete:
the last reference game dates from 2006.
And the topical variation 12.Qd2,e5 13.Bh6
is missing. So there are no comments or recommendations on:
Topalov-Kamsky 2009
Kariakin-Carllsen 2008
and of course no comments on Topalov-Anand 2010.
Not that this is an example I would care to follow as black Wink

	@ Markovich in your Play the Grunfeld book by Yelena Dembo does 12.Qd2 move included in the classical exchange(7.Bc4 8.Ne2)?Ive noticed that when I've checked the index of the book form Amazon.com only 12.Rc1 is written.I'm interested to know it since Topalov used the move 12.Qd2 instead of 12.Rc1 in his 1st game against Anand in the concluded WCC. Thanks folks for all your replies!

	Rowson's book is still the best. Get it first then Dembo. A ChessPublishing subscription is a very useful resource. Avrukh is working on a Grunfeld book now for Quality Chess but I don't expect it to come out anytime soon.

	Have you checked out Jonathan Rowson's - "Understanding the Grunfeld" book? The best one on this defence if you want to understand it but needs updating on current theory.

	Hi I've been playing the gruenfeld for quite awhile now and want to have a good book on this subject.I'm contemplating what to buy between Play the Grunfeld by Yelena Dembo or Chess Explained the Grunfeld by Valentin Bogdanov.I understand that Yelena's book is a repertoire and the latter is an overview of the gruenfeld.Can someone please help me on this matter especially those who have these two books mentioned. Also I've checked Play the Grunfeld on Amazon.com the classical exchange variation beginning with 7.Bc4 8.Ne2 and noticed that the 12.Qd2 is missing only 12.Rc1 is written.This move is used by topalov in his game 1 WCC match against anand.Am I right with this?
