Ralph Stanley - O Death An amazing, morose, acappella song, by an old man with an incredible voice.

Probably most famous from the Klan scene in O Brother Where Art Thou.

"De Futura" by Magma (does that count as a song?)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a73XLkf43-s

If I were joking, I'd say "anything by the Shaggs."

For a song that I liked with understandable lyrics, I'd go with "A Plague of Lighthouse Keepers" by Van der Graaf Generator. Of course, I could name weirder music, but it's so epic.

On the theme of anti-love songs then Trio's Da da da deserves a mention.

(it was also used in an early Windows ad which was a good choice as most Windows users over the years may have wanted to address their OS with the chorus 'I don't love you. You don't love me' :))

Absolutely. Curse of Millhaven is one of my favourite songs. Amp it up to 11.

Well, if you have heard Not a lovesong with such a sappy arrangement before I would like to learn about it.
Tried Gentle Giant already?

Again very, very conventional music. To make things worse, the idea is not even original. Try 10CC, I'm not in Love:

Sure, the music is arch-conventional. But the lyrics are definitely not. That contrast is what makes it work, for me. 10CC's song is conventional in both music and lyrics.

I wouldn't be surprised if somebody came up with a Ray Davies song (the Kinks) either.
And smashing a guitar is sooooooooo Pete Townshend.

Has anyone tried Design already? Or are you just a bunch of softies, too afraid of deviating?
OK then, if you're only after weird lyrics, try these:

All in all each man in all men
All men in each man.
He can see she can't, she can see
she can
see whatever, whatever.
You may know what I don't know,
but not that
I don't know it and I can't tell you
so you will.

To tell me all man in all men
All men in each man.
He can see she can't, she can see
she can
see whatever, whatever.
You may know what I don't know,
but not that
I don't know it and I can't tell you
so you will have to tell me all.

It hurts him to think that she is
hurting her by him being hurt to think
that she thinks he is hurt by making her
feel guilty at hurting him by her thinking
she wants him to want her. Her wants
her to
want him to get him to want him to get
him to want her she pretends.

He tries to make her afraid by not
being afraid. (permutations)

You may know what I don't know, but not
that I don't know it and I can't
tell you so you will have to tell
me all.

I get what I deserve. I deserve what I
get. I have it so I deserve it. I deserve
it for I have it. I get what I deserve.
What I deserve - what I deserve what
I get.
I have it so I deserve.

He tries to make her afraid by not
being afraid.

Same band, song called Knots, less weird music though.

The guitar player at the right (for us at the left) would later become producer for Echo and the Bunnyman and also for The Sugarcubes.

Thanks for finding the video. I only tried Youtube and failed to find a complete version.

I'm not trying to persuade you, this is all about opinions. But a response like "he's not a song" is silly nitpicking in my book. It was very obvious that I was talking about his songs, and one song in particular, not just the person.

Likewise to argue, in effect, that his songs are not strange because they're supposed to be strange?!

But enough, I'll let others decide who is being difficult here.
Well, if he doesn't at least fit the descriptions "strange" and "peculiar" I must have misunderstood those words entirely.
He's a clown alright, but not a song. ( Re: Great strange interesting peculiar unusual songs? )
I did mention a specific song of his too, you know...
Still, a parody is virtually supposed to be strange in some way, unless he makes a normal version of a strange song...
Both Weird Al and all his songs are strange and peculiar. "You Don't Love Me Anymore" is not a parody, but a completely original song, which is very unusual for him (The music video for it however is a parody, of Extreme's video for "More Than Words"). The song is on the surface an emotional ballad, but peculiarly the lyrics are mostly about physical violence and various ways to kill a person. I find the contrast between the soft music and singing and the violent lyrics interesting and hilarious.

Let me know when you are done nitpicking.
My first response was "I wouldn't use any of the headline words for Al Yankovic, but if it rocks your boat, why not?" and ever since then it's you who has been nit-picking. We don't agree, and that's fine, so stop trying to persuade me. I haven't heard the song you refer to and you didn't provide a link to neither the song, the video nor the lyrics.

Edit, here it is, two minutes on google was that so hard? http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x41mix_weird-al-yankovic-you-don-t-love-me_fun
