Well deserved win for Aronian indeed. And not a bad showing by Radjabov either....a solid joint second without conceding any losses. Hmm...I wonder if Kasparov is secretly training Radjabov  Grin

Ha! Seems I overestimated Radjabov's incentive to play for a win.  Caruana-Gelfand (1-0) the only decisive game of the round so far. Kamsky might convert his extra pawn into a win against Topalov, though.

Congratulations to Aronian for fine tournament and well deserved victory!

Yep Aronian has won tournament. Made a quick draw in 12 moves with Radjabov. Also Gashimov - Naka & Ivanchuk - Karjakin were quick draws too.

I think it's pretty likely. He has White in his last game and only needs a draw to clinch sole first...

...But in the last round he is facing Radjabov, who has been playing well (hasn't lost a game yet), and has some incentive to press for a win.  It could still prove to be an exciting final round.

Agreed.  Seems like he's been on the verge of becoming a #1 ranking/Wch contender for a while now.  I hope winning at Wijk will be the start of a real breakthrough year for him.

Navara seems to be a very honest and humble guy, though very nervous in the limelight - and who wouldn't be nervous when showing the details of a chess game for 35 minutes to a bunch of journalists who are whispering to each other...

I also think Aronian deserves to win the tm convincingly - though Carlsen's win today was a bit impressive. Not the moves so much, but to win on will-force alone against such a strong player as Topalov. Usually, such things only happen when one of the players is rated something like 200 points higher - so maybe Magnus is worth 3000?

Aronian and Ivanchuk lost while Carlsen won. This was a huge surprise. And Navara, who has played the tnmt at about 2550 strength until now, has a game he can be proud of! A very strange round indeed.

I really hope Carlsen doesn't come back to get a share of first in this tnmt. I like Carlsen, but I'd like to see Aronian win one outright for a change.
