Interesting - I'll have to look at this line before my next tournament at the end of the month.  This could be part of my problem as I've in the past tried to force the Queen to the open Kingside (in this line specifically) rather than going to b6 and pressuring d4 like in just about any other line of the French outside of maybe the Exchange.

I have a major question in the French Tarrasch.  I think, if I follow the PDF correctly, that they have this line under 3...Nf6, but the Question I have pertains to the position after any of these 3 lines:

1.e4 e6 2.d4 d5 3.Nd2 c5 4.Ngf3 Nf6 5.e5 Nfd7 6.c3 Nc6 7.Bd3 Be7 8.O-O g5 (How I usually get there)

OR

1.e4 e6 2.d4 d5 3.Nd2 Nf6 4.e5 Nfd7 5.Bd3 c5 6.c3 Nc6 7.Ngf3 Be7 8.O-O g5

OR

1.e4 e6 2.d4 d5 3.Nd2 Be7 4.Ngf3 Nf6 5.e5 Nfd7 6.Bd3 c5 7.c3 Nc6 8.O-O g5


It is well known that White's best move is 9.dxc5!  I have also seen some resources mention 9.a3.

That said, at the amateur level (1900 to 2100 level opponents), I repeatedly get either 9.g4 or 9.h3 h5 10.g4, and if I answer 9.g4 with 9...h5, it transposes to the second line as they play 10.h3.

This is mentioned nowhere that I have seen.  Is there something wrong with this idea for White and that's why it's not mentioned any where?  Or have players of the White pieces found a novelty that actually works?  What should Black do against this move that at first glance appears to severely weaken the White King but after further analysis, seems to be hard to counter and often times, it's my g5-pawn that is getting attacked and becomes hard to defend.
