QGD: 3...Nf6 vs 3...Be7
I heard from many sources, like Seirawan commenting in Sinquefield Cup and NM Dereque Kelley in one of his youtube videos, suggesting that after 1.d4 d5 2.c4 e6 3.Nc3, 3...Be7 is more accurate than [b]3...Nf

Andreikin-Kramnik, World Cup R3
Anyone else check out this game?
[pgn] [Event "FIDE World Chess Cup"] [Site "chess24.com"] [Date "2015.09.17"] [Round "19"] [White "Andreikin, Dmitry"] [Black "Kramnik...|/pgn] I am not an expert in the QGD by any means, but 9...c5!? seems kind of unusual, but interesting. At the very least I thought Kramnik's position was quite appealing after 16...Qc6. According to my understanding from the White side, 10.dxc5 should be tried. I wonder what Kramnik's idea was here? I analyzed quite a few ...d4 ideas after 10...Nc6, but nothing seemed to totally work. Black does have a lot of ways to head into 2B vs. 2N positions down a pawn, but I'm not sure about any of them. Will post more when I get home from work and have access to a database and computer. Started 09/17/15 at 18:18:29 by TonyRo |

Why do people still avoid the Exchange QGD?
In top level games the vast majority of QGD games are arising via the Nimzo move order or 3...Be7, while in the rare cases 3...Nf6 is played, white players nearly exclusively play the Exchange Variati...

QGD Vienna Variation 6.Bxc4 question, 8...Bd6

Good Reply to Tartakower
can someone suggest a good way to deal with tartakower? I have been losing a lot of games lately. I play the Bxf6 line.

Ragozin for white: Carlsen & Dreev play Qa4+
Hi!
I was just looking up alternatives to the move order: 1.Nf3 d5 2.d4 e6 3.c4 Nf6 4.Nc3 Bb4 5.cd5 and came across the relatively rare 5.Qa4!? I had thought such an approach was hamfisted, but I saw Dreev and Carl... Started 08/29/09 at 14:34:31 by Smyslov_Fan |

How to combat the Lasker Variation?
Hi,
I hate admitting this, but the Lasker Variation (1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 e6 3.Nf3 d5 4.Bg5 Be7 5.Nc3 h6 6.Bh4 Ne4) is giving me a terrible headache. I read the commentary to the Topalov-Anand world cha... Started 01/05/11 at 18:35:43 by Smyslov_Fan « Pages 1 2 all » |

Why does QGD score so poorly?

I'm wondering why the venerable QGD, often referred to as rock solid, shows such dismal statistics for black in nearly every line. Often, black doesn't even win 15% of the games and... Started 05/09/06 at 03:34:08 by Scott Rex(Guest) (Guest) |

I just began playing the lasker variation of the QGD. What line is similar in style to the lasker that could be played against the catalan?
